Internet Facilitators Ltd (IFL) started trading in 1997 as a University of Manchester spin-out designed to exploit the University’s data centre facilities and to offer commercial internet hosting services for ISP’s and internet user businesses. The management team’s commitment to creating and delivering business class data centres has seen IFL become the largest provider of state-of-the-art, carrier neutral, collocation services with 18,000 square feet of data centre space in Manchester.   IFL now operate two facilities in the centre of Manchester with a wide ranging customer base including ISPs, SMBs, large nationals and multinational organisations. The quality of the data centre offering and its reputation as a quality customer supporter has built a strong reputation with a resultant continuing growth in business clients. This strong offering was also a reason for the recent purchase of   IFL by Attenda Ltd, Europe's leading specialist in operating critical Internet and enterprise applications. IFL has thus shown that a well managed university spin-out company can become a high performing private sector growth business and Attenda are committed to continuing the national and international customer growth in IFL.

Ian Eddison’s initial role provided mentoring and coaching on the sales & marketing strategy for the IFL senior management team including interactive reviews of high quality new marketing material and the sales & marketing plans.  IECON has continuously promoted IFL amongst the NW digital companies resulting in new client approaches.

The sales & marketing activities by the IFL have already delivered over £1.5m growth in the sales levels with a wide range of new customers.   This rapid growth will see IFL’s large Reynolds House facility expanding this year to continue supplying secure, save and power efficient data centre facilities to their growing business customers.  Again Ian Eddison has supported the management team in looking for new data centre opportunities and it is expected that IFL will be able to announce their new expansion location very soon.

The Managing Director Peter Mills has commented:   “Thanks to the support and encouragement provided by Ian Eddison we have understood our current market sector better and how to address new market sectors to significantly grow our business.”
